Plano Senior High football’s annual Media Day breakfast was held on August 13th to a packed house.  In a well-received change in format, when Head Coach Jaydon McCullough introduced his coaches, each coach in-turn introduced his family.  To player families new to the program it was a great way to meet the women and children that are the foundation of support for the coaches.  To regular followers of the program it was a great opportunity to see how much the coaches’ kids have grown since the end of last season. The Plano Wildcats participated in their last 2016 7 On 7 football state qualifying tournament on June 10.  Hosted by Wylie, the Wildcats faced Pool D opponents Mesquite, Wylie East and North Mesquite at the Wylie East field.  It was a disappointing evening for the Wildcats, as they didn’t win a berth to the state tournament. The Plano Wildcat varsity 7 On 7 football team played at the 2016 Plano West 7 On 7 State Qualifying Tournament on June 4.  Due to rain earlier in the week, pool play was scattered throughout Plano and neighboring suburbs to take advantage of turf fields.  Pool D, comprised of Plano, Richardson, Frisco Heritage and Arlington Bowie, played at Frisco Heritage’s field.  The Wildcats started pool play strong, defeating Richardson in the first game 45-18, and Frisco Heritage 32-26 in the second game.  Arlington Bowie is a perennial nemesis of Plano in 7 On 7 play, and they continue to be a worthy opponent, bestingRead More →

The second Area playoff game on Saturday, May 7 was the last 2016 game for the Lady Wildcats softball team.  Their opponent, Mansfield, won the first game in the best-of-three series the evening before, and on Saturday the Lady Tigers jumped into the lead in the bottom of the 6th inning and rode that lead to the series win. The first game in a best-of-three series second round of 2016 UIL Softball playoffs between Plano Senior High and Mansfield was over the evening of May 6 in what seemed to be record time.  Playing at Colleyville Heritage H.S. field, Mansfield scored one run in the top of the 1st inning and that was all it took to win in a defense-heavy game, 1-0. The teams finish the series on Saturday, May 7 back at Colleyville Heritage field starting at 3:00 p.m.  If a third game is necessary, it will start 30 minutes after the end of the 3:00 p.m. game. The Plano Lady Wildcats softball team swept Denton Guyer in a best-of-three series that featured Friday night’s second game turning into a Saturday game, ending at 12:53 a.m.  Because of a rain delay for a prior game on the field in Prosper, that second game didn’t start until 9:17 p.m., and a rain delay in the bottom of the first inning put the teams on track for finishing the game past curfew.
