It’s hard to describe the two Plano varsity softball scrimmage games on Feb. 4 as “warm-ups” considering temps in the upper 40’s under cloudy skies.  Perhaps tune-up is the better description, and in that case the Lady Wildcats were running on all cylinders, defeating Forney 9-1 and Rowlett 11-0.  The fans saw a lot of fresh faces on the Plano varsity squad, and while there may have been some jitters for a few, all the players appeared to be ready for prime time.  If these scrimmages are a preview of varsity district play, Plano fans have a lot to look forward to this season. The 2016 meeting between the JV Wildcats and JV Wolves football teams  ended with a nail-biting finish.  Coming from behind, the JV Wildcats scored a touchdown that put them one point away from a tie game with only a few seconds left on the clock.  A PAT would have finished the game with a tie.  A two-point play would give the Wildcats a win.  No guts, no glory, the Wildcats went for two with a run up the middle.  The Wolves defensive line held, and they won 27-26.
