The Plano Wildcats football team traveled to College Station, TX to compete in the 2026 State 7on7 Football Tournament, held this year for Division I the afternoon of Friday June 26 (pool play) and the morning of June 27 (Championship bracket or Consolation bracket). It was a short week between district softball games due to school closures on Good Friday, so the Plano Lady Wildcats softball teams only had a day to pivot from their Tuesday games against Plano West to the next second round games against Prosper on Thursday April 2. Even though the second round of 2026 district softball games between Plano and Plano West were “Home” games for Plano West, the West Wolves softball teams are still homeless while their field is undergoing renovation, and the game was held at Lady Wildcats Field. Plano was the home team for the second round of Plano v. Princeton 2026 district softball games held on March 27. A cold front had blown in early in the afternoon and by JV gametime a cold wind was howling across the field from the North, and by varsity game time a cold, wind-driven drizzle made playing conditions miserable. Nonetheless, both Plano teams won, and Plano varsity sent everyone home early after the top of the 5th with a 14-1 lead. The second round of 2026 district softball games are underway for Texas UIL District 6-6A and Allen was the host for their game against Plano this time around on March 24. Regrettably, I missed the JV game and arrived to the field at the bottom of the 5th inning for the varsity game, and missed Plano’s scoring in the 4th inning. As local Spring break week came to a close, McKinney and Plano started the second round of 2026 district games by competing mid-day on Saturday, March 21 at Plano’s new home field. It was also Senior Day for Plano and it’s eight seniors. The teams split wins, with McKinney winning a close JV game while Plano’s varsity won their game in five innings. Plano and Rock Hill softball teams played their first round of 2026 district games on March 17 at Plano’s new field. Despite abundant sunshine for the JV game (which Plano won), by the varsity game the cold wind in the dark made it feel colder than many February games. To make conditions worse for the varsity game, the teams were tied by the 7th inning, pushing the game later into the night. The first 2026 district softball game between the Plano Wildcats and the Plano East Panthers was a “Home Game” for the Lady Panthers on March 13. Because Plano East’s softball field is under renovation, “Home” for the Lady Panthers in 2026 is the Naaman Forest High School softball field, in Garland. So, on Friday the 13th, in Garland, the Lady Wildcats JV handily won their game, and the varsity game went to the bottom of the 7th when the Lady Panthers broke the tie to notch a 5-4.
