For the 2026 softball season, district play for the Plano Wildcats Softball teams started on Feb. 17 against the McKinney Lions, at McKinney. The teams split wins for the evening, with the Lady Lions taking the JV game and the Lady Wildcats taking the varsity game 18-0. Plano Senior High School Wildcats varsity and JV softball teams held their first games on their brand new softball field on February 10, 2026, with the Richardson Eagles as their opponent. Former Plano Softball Head Coach Cynthia Zea threw out the first pitch to one of her former student catchers, Mel McCullough Boyde, with many Plano Softball alumni, coaches and fans on hand to celebrate. In the bi-district round of the 2025 season football playoffs the Plano Wildcats were matched against the Coppell Cowboys, who had the better season record and therefore hosted the playoff game on Nov. 14. Coppell’s defense stifled the Wildcats, who were held scoreless 38-0 and bowed out of the playoffs in the first round. For the third year in a row the PSA football team Hurricanes, under Head Coach (and former Plano Senior High and Holycross football player) C. J. Martin, won the 2025 PSA Football Championship game on Nov. 8 at Plano’s Clark Field East. The ‘Canes were undefeated this season. On a cool and clear Halloween night Plano’s John Clark Stadium was the venue for the 2025 game between the Plano Wildcats and Rock Hill Blue Hawks. At the half Rock Hill was ahead 10-0 and Plano’s hopes for a ticket the playoffs looked dim, but the Wildcats came out for the second half invigorated and determined, turning the game around to win 21-16. The Plano Wildcats football team punched their ticket to the bi-district round of playoffs. Plano East was the home team for the 2025 game against Plano, so the teams played in Plano ISD’s Tom Kimbrough Stadium, and due to storms forecast for Friday the 24th, the game was moved up to Thursday the 23rd. The teams were pretty evenly matched this year, and the drama built to the last minute of the game with Plano ahead 17-15 and Plano East grinding to get within field goal range. Due to forecast storms for Friday night, Plano ISD joined many local school districts in rescheduling the varsity football games from Friday to Thursday, thus pushing the JV football games ahead by a day to Thursday. To accommodate the change Plano and Plano East consolidated their respective JV1 and JV2 teams into one, and played their annual match-up on Oct. 22 at Clark West Field. The 2025 JV football game between McKinney Boyd and Plano played out on Oct. 16 on McKinney Boyd’s high school campus field, which turned out to be no advantage to the home team as Plano had the lead the whole game, finishing with a 28-21 win.
