The Plano East Panthers hosted the 2026 rivalry game against the Plano Wildcats at Tom Kimbrough Stadium on Oct. 16 in cool temps that were a stark departure from the triple digit field temps both teams had to endure almost every week of this season. Like so many games between these two teams, the score remained close until the forth quarter, when this year it was the Panthers who made a scoring push and held on to the lead to the end despite a Wildcat effort to tie in the last minutes of the game. Plano East was the home team for the 2025 game against Plano, so the teams played in Plano ISD’s Tom Kimbrough Stadium, and due to storms forecast for Friday the 24th, the game was moved up to Thursday the 23rd. The teams were pretty evenly matched this year, and the drama built to the last minute of the game with Plano ahead 17-15 and Plano East grinding to get within field goal range. Plano’s defense held as time ran out and the Plano Wildcats put another “W” on its side of the ledger for this rivalry. To view Plano action photos of the game PLEASERead More →

Due to forecast storms for Friday night, Plano ISD joined many local school districts in rescheduling the varsity football games from Friday to Thursday, thus pushing the JV football games ahead by a day to Thursday. To accommodate the change Plano and Plano East consolidated their respective JV1 and JV2 teams into one, and played their annual match-up on Oct. 22 at Clark West Field. East scored first and held an early lead, but Plano clawed back in the second half to tie the score and foil East’s field goal attempt with under 16 seconds left on the game clock. The oldest Plano cross-town sports rivalry continued as the Plano Wildcats football team hosted the Plano East Panthers in John Clark Stadium on Oct. 25. Since both teams had defeated Plano West this year, the unofficial City Championship would be the reward of the evening’s winner, and those bragging rights were earned by the Wildcats 34-24. The game was also the last home game for the Wildcats, so football, trainer, cheer and ROTC seniors were honored on the field ahead of the game. The Plano Wildcats JV teams were home on Sept. 21 for the 2023 games vs. the Plano East Panthers, so the games were played at the Wildcats Home stadium, John Clark Stadium. Coming off a bye week for all the District 6-6A teams, both the Wildcats and Panthers had an opportunity to rehab the injured and tune up their plays. The JV1 teams played first, and the Wildcats took an early lead. However, with 2:53 minutes left in the 2nd Q the game was suspended for 30 minutes due to a lightening warning. At that time the Wildcats were up 14-7. After the game resumed,Read More →

Originally scheduled to play at Tom Kimbrough Stadium, the Plano Wildcats and Plano East Panthers JV football teams met on Sept. 22 at Williams Stadium, the site of the original Plano High School football field. Forty-one years ago Plano East Senior High School fielded its first JV football team, so this venue was a bit throw-back. I don’t know how that first match between these schools’ JV teams played out, but this year the Wildcats were the visiting team, and they swept both games.
