Plano’s football team traveled to Mesquite on August 25 for the annual pre-season scripted JV and varsity scrimmages against the Skeeters.  The results of Friday night’s play will factor into the final sorting of players between the varsity and JV teams, and the likely first season-game starters for each team.   Jersey changes within Plano teams and between JV & varsity teams are common, so you can’t always assume which player was wearing a certain number unless you received confirmation from a player or coach (or very confident parent). The 2016 meeting between the JV Wildcats and JV Wolves football teams  ended with a nail-biting finish.  Coming from behind, the JV Wildcats scored a touchdown that put them one point away from a tie game with only a few seconds left on the clock.  A PAT would have finished the game with a tie.  A two-point play would give the Wildcats a win.  No guts, no glory, the Wildcats went for two with a run up the middle.  The Wolves defensive line held, and they won 27-26.
