The Plano Wildcats football teams checked off a major tune-up on August 21 for their 2015 season with a scrimmage against the Mesquite Skeeters.  Both JV and varsity squads with various combinations of athletes went full contact (except for QB’s) over the course of a long evening.  Acknowledging that there’s always room for improvement, especially pre-season, the Wildcats performed very well against their opponent Friday night and should thrive in the regular season. With a week of fall practice already under their belts, the 2015 Plano Wildcats football players and coaches joined parents and fans for a hearty breakfast at Plano Senior High on Saturday, Aug. 15.   Sponsored by the Quarterback Club annually, the QB Club breakfast was followed by the program photo shoot of the JV and varsity teams and individuals, and parents. The Plano Wildcats varsity 7 On 7 football team qualified again for the State Championship Tournament and traveled to College Station for competition over two days. The first day, pool play, saw the Wildcats beat Montwood (El Paso) 31-20, Hedrickson (Pflugerville) 26-20, but lose to Cy Springs in the last seconds of the game 28-22.  That was good enough for the Wildcats to advance to the Championship bracket on the next day, where it’s single elimination.  The Woodlands sent the Wildcats home in a low scoring game where Plano had a thin 7-6 lead at the half, but Plano couldn’t make the extra points toRead More →

The first day pools have been announced for the 2015 Texas State 7 On 7 Football Championship Tournament. On the first day of play, on July 10, Plano will play Montwood (El Paso) at 1:00 p.m., Hendrickson (Pflugerville) at 3:00 p.m., and Cy Springs at 5:00 p.m.  Plano will be the Home team (dark jersey) in all three games, and take the snap to start the 2nd half. The Rowlett varsity 7 On 7 football team asked for their picture to be taken after they won pool play to advance to the semi-final round at the Wylie SQT on June 12.  CLICK HERE TO SEE IT. The Plano Wildcats varsity 7 On 7 football team participated in the Wylie 7 On 7 state qualifying tournament on Friday, June 12 as scheduled even though the team qualified for the state championship tournament the week earlier.  The team experimented a bit with player roles in the line up, and emphasized injury avoidance.    In pool play the Wildcats dropped the first game to Rockwall by one point, won the second game against Hebron by 11 points, then dropped the third game to Rowlett by one point.
