The Plano Wildcats hosted the first 2021 softball season district varsity game against the Hebron Hawks on the last Saturday of Spring Break and capped the days off with a win, though Plano fans had to hang on until the bottom of the 5th for the Lady Wildcats to overcome Hebron’s early lead. The first 2021 season district game for the Plano Wildcats Softball teams opened March 2 at home against Coppell. It was also Senior Night for Plano, honoring Casey Driver, Elizabeth Guevara, Darby Hickey, Mackenzie Ridley and Sadie Weiner. The Plano Wildcats varsity softball team competed in the Allen softball tournament over Feb. 25-27 and I was able to photograph the Wildcats games against Sachse, McKinney Boyd and Denison – all wins for Plano. The game against Denison was particularly challenging due to dense fog throughout the entire game. The harsh weather put an end to some earlier pre-season opportunities to photograph the Plano Lady Wildcats Softball JV & varsity teams, but the sun and warmer air is here! Due to pandemic scheduling the 2020 annual Plano vs. Plano West varsity football game was played later in the year than usual — on December 4. Knit hats, gloves, thick coats and blankets were the fashion in the stands, but the action was hot on the field. The Wildcats lead the first half, but the Wolves caught up by the 4th Q and with less than 2 min on the clock pulled ahead by a touchdown.
