The Plano Wildcats football team traveled to College Station, TX to compete in the 2026 State 7on7 Football Tournament, held this year for Division I the afternoon of Friday June 26 (pool play) and the morning of June 27 (Championship bracket or Consolation bracket).
In Friday’s pool play, Plano defeated Beaumont United 27-25 (at half, Plano 13, Beaumont 19), lost to Willis 26-13 (at half, Plano 6, Willis 13) and lost to Wichita Falls Memorial 21-19 (at half, Plano 0, Memorial 14). The top two teams from pool play advance to the Championship bracket the next day, and the bottom two compete in the Consolation bracket. As it turned out, in Plano’s four-team pool one team was undefeated and the remaining teams each had a 1-2 record. Whatever the tie breaker, Plano was assigned to the Consolation bracket for Saturday play.
Play in both brackets on Saturday is single elimination, so you go home when you lose. Plano’s first Saturday game was against Eastlake, with a halftime score of Plano 7, Eastlake 0, and final score Plano 21, Eastlake 18. Plano’s next game was against San Antonio Johnson, with a halftime score of 13 each, and at the end of regulation the teams were tied at 19-all. In OT Plano started on offense but was unable to score. On it’s turn at offense, Johnson scored to win in OT 25-19, and the Wildcats went home.
