The Robinson Razorbacks hosted the Rice Ravens 8th grade boys “B” and “A” basketball teams on Feb. 3 and the Razorbacks earned the win in both games with a comfortable margin. However, in the “A” game, with 6.4 seconds left on the game clock, Ravens #25 stole the ball and made an astounding half-court buzzer-beating throw to shave 3 off the final score spread. The Rice Ravens hosted the 2019 Otto Bobcats 8th grade boys basketball “B” and “A” team games on Monday, Dec. 9, and it was “fill the bleachers” night for Rice. Monday is not usually the weekday for 8th grade boys basketball games, and it turns out Monday is not a lucky night for the Ravens. The Rice Middle School Ravens hosted the 2019 8th grade boys “B” and “A” team games against Renner Middle School on December 4. Alas, the Ravens couldn’t earn a “W” in either game, though the Rice “A” team made a dramatic come-from-way-behind rally in the 4th Q to tie, but couldn’t nail down a lead. The Robinson Razorbacks hosted the Rice Ravens for some 8th grade boys basketball action on Jan. 9, and those who were there for the early game were treated to fast-paced action and a dramatic come-from-behind ending for the Razorbacks. Down pretty much throughout the game, and behind by one with 11 seconds left in the game, Robinson’s “B” team made a go-ahead bucket and denied Rice a rebound on their failed shot at redemption 5 seconds before the ending buzzer. The Rice Middle School Ravens 8th grade boys basketball team hosted games against Wilson Middle School on Dec. 3 and the Ravens swept the series, though the “A” team game lead switched between the teams throughout.
