The second round of 2023 district softball games between Plano and Flower Mound were hosted by Plano on April 14, yet another windy evening. Due to forecast thunderstorms on Friday, the 2022 Plano v. Coppell varsity & JV football games were moved ahead a day, respectively, so Plano hosted the JV games on Wednesday night, Nov. 2. The schools split wins, with the Cowboys winning the JV1 game and the Wildcats dominating the JV2 game. These were the last JV games of the 2022 season for both schools. As is tradition, the Plano Wildcats JV and Plano West Wolves JV football teams faced off against each other in Plano’s John Clark Stadium, but this year in September instead of November. Originally scheduled to play at Tom Kimbrough Stadium, the Plano Wildcats and Plano East Panthers JV football teams met on Sept. 22 at Williams Stadium, the site of the original Plano High School football field. Forty-one years ago Plano East Senior High School fielded its first JV football team, so this venue was a bit throw-back. I don’t know how that first match between these schools’ JV teams played out, but this year the Wildcats were the visiting team, and they swept both games. For the second year Plano Football HC Todd Ford and his coaching staff hosted a Women’s Clinic in Plano’s athletic facilities to introduce his staff, some facilities, and provide some education to participants about the program and how offensive and defensive plays are structured. The participants rotated between offensive, defensive, and health trainer presentation stations, then moved to the indoor training facility for photos in jerseys in the weight room, a group photo, and a run through an obstacle course.
