A week before 2023 Texas UIL high school football non-district season play begins, the Plano Wildcats traveled to Rockwall’s Wilkerson-Sanders Memorial Stadium to conduct JV2, JV1 & varsity scrimmages against Rockwall Heath. It was the first opportunity for players to tune up against unfamiliar players, and for coaches to evaluate players and plays in often unpredictable circumstances. On Aug. 19 Rockwall Heath hosted Plano for pre-season scrimmages of their 9th grade through varsity football teams. For Plano, that meant Vines H.S. 9th, Clark H.S. 9th, Plano JV-1, Plano JV-2, and Plano varsity. Each group had about an hour of play, and the varsity level added two 10-minute timed and officiated periods to the end of the scrimmage.
