Even though the second round of 2026 district softball games between Plano and Plano West were “Home” games for Plano West, the West Wolves softball teams are still homeless while their field is undergoing renovation, and the game was held at Lady Wildcats Field. As another consequence of renovation of Plano Senior High’s softball field, the Plano Wildcats hosted the second round of 2025 district softball games against the Plano West Wolves on April 1 at Plano East’s field, a surreal experience for fans of both schools. Although the Plano Wildcats softball teams have been using the Plano West field as its home field this season while their field is under renovation, on March 4 the Wildcats moved over to the Visitors dugout as the Plano West Wolves hosted the first 2025 district games with Plano. For the past several years the Plano v Plano West softball games have been very competitive, where the outcome is contested right down to the last inning (or extra inning). The Plano Lady Wildcats hosted the second round of 2022 district softball games against the Plano West Lady Wolves, with the Lady Wolves winning the JV game and, in 8 innings, the Lady Wildcats won the varsity game. With this win the Lady Wildcats earned PISD City Champ bragging rights. Also, in a last hurrah for Plano seniors, family members came onto the field before the varsity game for some warm-up throws and catching, and ceremonial first pitches. The Plano West Lady Wolves hosted the first round of 2022 district games with the Plano Wildcats on March 29, and weather continued to be a major factor for this season as incredibly strong, gusting wind blew down the 1st base line into the faces of anyone at the plate or looking toward the outfield. In what appears to be a shortened 2020 district softball season, Plano West hosted Plano softball on March 12 just as PISD announced all further sports activities would be suspended until further notice. Turning uncertainty into motivation, the varsity Lady Wildcats rallied from behind in the mid-innings of their game to take home a 12-6 win.
