Plano vs. Plano West Softball

The second round of 2024 district softball games between the Plano Wildcats and Plano West Wolves were hosted by the Wildcats on April 2 and the teams split wins. Plano West won the JV game, and Plano won the varsity game 6-5 with stunning come-from-behind play in the bottom of the 7th inning. The Plano Lady Wildcats hosted the second round of 2022 district softball games against the Plano West Lady Wolves, with the Lady Wolves winning the JV game and, in 8 innings, the Lady Wildcats won the varsity game. With this win the Lady Wildcats earned PISD City Champ bragging rights. Also, in a last hurrah for Plano seniors, family members came onto the field before the varsity game for some warm-up throws and catching, and ceremonial first pitches. The Plano West Lady Wolves hosted the first round of 2022 district games with the Plano Wildcats on March 29, and weather continued to be a major factor for this season as incredibly strong, gusting wind blew down the 1st base line into the faces of anyone at the plate or looking toward the outfield. In what appears to be a shortened 2020 district softball season, Plano West hosted Plano softball on March 12 just as PISD announced all further sports activities would be suspended until further notice. Turning uncertainty into motivation, the varsity Lady Wildcats rallied from behind in the mid-innings of their game to take home a 12-6 win. Likewise, the JV Wildcats bats caught fire on the west side as they won 11-1.
