The Plano East Lady Panthers hosted the first round of 2019 softball games with the Plano Lady Wildcats on March 13, in the middle of Plano ISD’s spring break. The teams had been dogged by cold and rain the week before, but by game time the sun was out and the field was in good condition. Plano East won the JV game, and the varsity game finished regulation tied 4-4. In the 8th inning Plano scored 3 and East couldn’t respond, sending the varsity Lady Wildcats home with the win. The last regular 2018 season games for Plano and Plano East softball teams were played at the Lady Wildcats Field on April 20, and the Lady Wildcats swept the Lady Panthers JV and varsity teams. It was also Senior Night for Plano softball, and the five senior players (Lindsay Edwards, Emily Knight, Drew Manders, Bronte Rhoden & Aubrie Rhodes) and senior manager (Terranay Tate) were recognized just before the start of the varsity game. The Plano Wildcats JV and varsity softball teams went to the east side on March 26 for a rare Monday night match (to avoid a likely Tuesday rain-out) and swept the Lady Panthers, though the varsity game was no cake-walk.  There were more out-of-park HR’s in the varsity game, by both teams, than this photographer has seen in years (or perhaps, ever). With forecast thunderstorms looming, the final 2017 regular season Lady Wildcats varsity softball game, at Plano East, was rescheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start time, with the JV game to be played afterward.  While the varsity game was able to be completed, the JV game was called off as the stands and field were clearing due to lightning.
