The Mesquite Skeeters traveled to Plano’s Clark Stadium on Friday, Aug. 24 to spend several hours scrimmaging with the Plano Wildcats JV and varsity hopefuls as both teams used unfamiliar opponents to fine-tune their respective rosters for the regular football season that begins the last week of August. Plano’s football team traveled to Mesquite on August 25 for the annual pre-season scripted JV and varsity scrimmages against the Skeeters.  The results of Friday night’s play will factor into the final sorting of players between the varsity and JV teams, and the likely first season-game starters for each team.   Jersey changes within Plano teams and between JV & varsity teams are common, so you can’t always assume which player was wearing a certain number unless you received confirmation from a player or coach (or very confident parent). The Plano Wildcats football teams checked off a major tune-up on August 21 for their 2015 season with a scrimmage against the Mesquite Skeeters.  Both JV and varsity squads with various combinations of athletes went full contact (except for QB’s) over the course of a long evening.  Acknowledging that there’s always room for improvement, especially pre-season, the Wildcats performed very well against their opponent Friday night and should thrive in the regular season. The Plano Wildcats football team traveled to Mesquite on Friday, Aug. 22 for both JV and varsity scrimmages with the Skeeters.  With live reffing, the teams alternated 12-play sets through most of the evening, and the varsity scrimmage ended with a timed 12-minute quarter.  Neither team scored during the timed play.
