On Oct. 17 the Plano Wildcats Football JV2 team hosted Highland Park’s JV team and Plano’s JV1 team hosted McKinney Boyd’s JV team at John Clark Stadium. McKinney hosted the 2024 round of JV football games with Plano on Sept. 12 and the teams split wins that night, with McKinney winning the JV1 game 8-0 and Plano winning the JV2 game 34-0. The 2020 Plano Wildcats varsity football season started with an away game against the McKinney Lions that looked initially to be a lopsided win for McKinney but by the last minute of the game Plano was ahead, only to be denied the comeback win by a kickoff run-back for a TD by McKinney followed by a 2-point play to make it a 1-point Lion win. The 2020 football season for the Plano Wildcats opened with JV-1 play on Thursday, Sept. 24 at Clark Stadium against the McKinney Lions JV team. McKinney hosted the 2019 season District 9-6A game against Plano on Thursday, Oct 10. With storms in the forecast, kickoff was moved up to 6:00 p.m., but that wasn’t enough to beat Mother Nature. The game was paused for lightning with 11:11 remaining on the clock in the 4th quarter, and after a long delay the teams agreed to finish the game the next day at 1:00 p.m. The Wildcats went to bed with a 7 point lead. Another Friday night football game with rain!  No lightning delays, thankfully, but starting the game with soaked players, wet footballs and a fraction of the usual number of fans in the stands is not a great experience for any team.  But the game started on time, without intervening delays, and the bands and drill teams gave full (AND WONDERFUL) performances. Yes, it was disappointing that the 2018 JV football game between McKinney and Plano was hosted by McKinney at it’s auxiliary field near the high school, and not one of McKinney’s (now two) stadiums, but visitors can’t be choosers.  All the scoring in this game happened in the second quarter, with mirroring TD’s and 2-point conversions that left the game in a 8-8 tie at the closing buzzer.
