The second Area playoff game on Saturday, May 7 was the last 2016 game for the Lady Wildcats softball team.  Their opponent, Mansfield, won the first game in the best-of-three series the evening before, and on Saturday the Lady Tigers jumped into the lead in the bottom of the 6th inning and rode that lead to the series win. It is only fitting that the last run of the year for the Lady Wildcats was an over-the-fence home run from the bat of a senior — Adrienne Edwards. The first game in a best-of-three series second round of 2016 UIL Softball playoffs between Plano Senior High and Mansfield was over the evening of May 6 in what seemed to be record time.  Playing at Colleyville Heritage H.S. field, Mansfield scored one run in the top of the 1st inning and that was all it took to win in a defense-heavy game, 1-0. The teams finish the series on Saturday, May 7 back at Colleyville Heritage field starting at 3:00 p.m.  If a third game is necessary, it will start 30 minutes after the end of the 3:00 p.m. game.
