The Plano Lady Wildcats softball teams played their last 2024 district games in Coppell against the Coppell Lady Cowboys. The Lady Cowboys won both games, though the lead in the varsity game changed hands several times with Coppell gaining a one-run lead in the bottom of the 6th and holding off Plano in the top of the 7th. A deluge of rain the night before overwhelmed home team Plano’s field, and the solution was to cancel the JV game and move the varsity game to Plano West’s field, which is now completely turf. Coppell and Plano battled through the evening in a strong northerly wind that turned a pleasant environment at the beginning into uncomfortably cold and bitter conditions for the last two innings. The Plano Lady Wildcats hosted the Coppell Lady Cowboys for the last game of the 2023 season on April 21, and the schools split wins for the evening. Coppell won the JV game, and Plano won the varsity game. The win for the Lady Wildcats was especially memorable since it was the final high school career game for the seniors. The Plano Lady Wildcats Softball JV & varsity teams kicked off their 2022 district season play on March 8 against the Coppell Cowgirls at Coppell. It was a cold late afternoon for JV play (Coppell earned the JV win) that evolved into a colder night by the time the varsity teams ended with Coppell winning in the bottom of the 9th inning, 7-6. The first 2021 season district game for the Plano Wildcats Softball teams opened March 2 at home against Coppell. It was also Senior Night for Plano, honoring Casey Driver, Elizabeth Guevara, Darby Hickey, Mackenzie Ridley and Sadie Weiner.
