The second round of 2026 district softball games are underway for Texas UIL District 6-6A and Allen was the host for their game against Plano this time around on March 24. Regrettably, I missed the JV game and arrived to the field at the bottom of the 5th inning for the varsity game, and missed Plano’s scoring in the 4th inning. The first 2026 district softball games against Allen were also the first district games hosted in Plano’s new field. It was also Future Wildcats Softball night, where dozens of young prospective players were recognized on the field between games and in the stands between innings during the varsity game. The second 2025 season games between Plano and Allen, this time hosted by Plano at Plano West’s field, was thrown for a loop on March 25 after the end of the 1st inning of varsity play due to lightning in the vicinity. After a long delay, the game was called for the evening and rescheduled to resume on Wednesday March 26 at 6:00 p.m. Allen won the JV game on the 25th. Allen hosted the first 2025 varsity softball game against the Plano Wildcats on Feb. 18 in an afternoon game scheduled to get ahead of scheduled bad weather. Well, they got ahead of freezing temps, but not ahead of very cold blowing drizzle. District 6-6A 4th seed Plano faced District 5-6A 1st Allen for the 2021 Bi-district softball playoff round. Weather issues caused the first two games to be played on Allen’s all-turf field in the best-of-three series, allowing the talented Lady Eagles to avoid travel and capture the title game at home. Best wishes to the Lady Eagles through the playoffs. 2019 softball season district play for the Plano Lady Wildcats softball teams began with away games at Allen on a cold Wednesday night, postponed from an even colder evening the day before. Varsity benefited from the change, reversing traditional order of play and playing first, snagging some welcome warming sunshine. Plano won the varsity game, and Allen took the JV game. Last week the Plano Lady Wildcats varsity softball team finished a rain-delay game against Allen on Thursday, then hosted McKinney Boyd’s varsity the next night.  The Lady Wildcats won each game, and with the win against Boyd they clinched the 2018 6-6A District Championship.  There were no JV games played against either team.
