The harsh weather put an end to some earlier pre-season opportunities to photograph the Plano Lady Wildcats Softball JV & varsity teams, but the sun and warmer air is here! March, 2019 came in to Plano like a Yeti from the North Pole, making the March 1 varsity-only softball game between North Richland Hills and Plano a blankets-and-earmuffs-attire-required game for the hearty fans who attended. Temps in the 30’s chilled the batting so much there were no runs until the bottom of the 9th, when the Lady Wildcats were finally able to put a run on the board and end the game. The second Area playoff game on Saturday, May 7 was the last 2016 game for the Lady Wildcats softball team.  Their opponent, Mansfield, won the first game in the best-of-three series the evening before, and on Saturday the Lady Tigers jumped into the lead in the bottom of the 6th inning and rode that lead to the series win. It is only fitting that the last run of the year for the Lady Wildcats was an over-the-fence home run from the bat of a senior — Adrienne Edwards. The Plano Lady Wildcats softball team swept Denton Guyer in a best-of-three series that featured Friday night’s second game turning into a Saturday game, ending at 12:53 a.m.  Because of a rain delay for a prior game on the field in Prosper, that second game didn’t start until 9:17 p.m., and a rain delay in the bottom of the first inning put the teams on track for finishing the game past curfew. The 2015 season has come to an end for the Plano Lady Wildcats Softball teams, and the season was celebrated at the softball program banquet on May 31.  Ten seniors said their good-byes, and JV and varsity players were recognized for achievement locally and at the district level.
