The Frisco schools hosted a 7 On 7 football state qualifying tournament on May 20, 2017.  This was the first of three SQTs in which the Plano Wildcats football team is scheduled to compete, and the Wildcats made a great appearance. In pool play, Plano defeated Lake Dallas 31-25 in overtime; defeated Reedy 38-20; and defeated Arlington Lamar 45-33.  In a hard-fought semi-final game with venue host Frisco Wakeland the Wildcats went into the half up 20-13, but an INT in the second half changed the momentum and Wakeland advanced 34-26.
