For their last 2024 regular season game the Plano Wildcats varsity football team went north to Prosper ISD Children’s Health Stadium to play the Prosper Rock Hill Blue Hawks for the first time ever. Down 17-7 at the half, the Wildcats rallied in the second half to take the lead, but a late TD by the Blue Hawks put them back on top by three, a lead they held at the end for a 24-21 win. The oldest Plano cross-town sports rivalry continued as the Plano Wildcats football team hosted the Plano East Panthers in John Clark Stadium on Oct. 25. Since both teams had defeated Plano West this year, the unofficial City Championship would be the reward of the evening’s winner, and those bragging rights were earned by the Wildcats 34-24. The game was also the last home game for the Wildcats, so football, trainer, cheer and ROTC seniors were honored on the field ahead of the game. The Plano Wildcats varsity football team traveled to McKinney ISD stadium to to play the McKinney Boyd Broncos on Oct. 18. It was was a game of see-saw scoring, tied at halftime 21-all, but Plano capitalized on a muffed punt return in the second half to build a two-TD buffer that withstood a late 4th quarter scoring drive by the Broncos. The Plano Wildcats played from the visitor’s side of John Clark Stadium against the Plano West Wolves in the 2024 rivalry game between the two Plano ISD schools. The Wildcats played spoiler for the Wolves’ homecoming festivities by scoring first and never relinquishing the lead on the way to a 35-14 win. August 12 was the first official day of practice under Texas UIL rules for the Plano Wildcats football team’s varsity and JV players.
