The Allen Station Softball Complex was the venue for a 3-day tournament for local high school varsity softball teams looking to tune-up before 2020 season district play begins later in March. On Leap Day 2020, the Plano Lady Wildcats varsity played the Celina Lady Bobcats for a timed hour and 45 minute scrimmage that showcased great action by both teams, with Plano edging out Celina 5-3. Rockwall High School hosted varsity softball scrimmages on Feb. 15 that were originally to be played at Plano, but heavy mid-week rains spoiled that plan and Rockwall, with its all-turf field, graciously stepped up. (Thank you, Rockwall!) The Lady Wildcats varsity played Frisco Lebanon Trail and Rockwall high school teams in timed scrimmage games that gave all teams a chance to try out players in different roles and tune-up the fundamentals. The second bi-district softball playoff game between the Plano Lady Wildcats and Sachse Lady Mustangs played the evening of April 26, and since Plano won that game, the deciding game was played the morning of April 27. The Plano Lady Wildcats softball team qualified for 2019 Texas UIL 6A playoffs, and for bi-district play they drew the Sachse Mustangs as their opponent for a best-of-three series hosted at Rockwall-Heath High School Lady Hawks Field. The last game of the 2019 season for Lady Wildcats Softball JV and varsity teams were against the Prosper Lady Eagles, in Prosper. The Lady Eagles swept the evening, though their varsity team needed a 3-run rally in the bottom of the cold, wet 7th inning to take that game. Plano hosted the second 2019 varsity district softball game against McKinney Boyd, and this time Boyd fielded a JV team (the first round of games didn’t include a JV game, at Boyd’s request). Wildcats JV easily bested the Broncos JV, but the varsity game was one for the record books yet again. In the first varsity meeting, at Boyd, the game was scoreless for 13 1/2 innings until the ump called for a bathroom break, and when the game resumed for the bottom of the 14th inning Boyd scored to break the 0-0 logjam and win.
