The Plano Lady Wildcats softball teams hosted Princeton for the first round of 2025 district games on Feb. 25 at Plano West’s field while the Wildcat’s field remains under construction. Plano varsity softball participated in the annual Allen Softball Tournament held at Allen Station Fields Feb. 20-22, 2025. All games on the 20th were cancelled due to freezing wind chills, but it wasn’t much warmer on the 21st & 22nd. I made it to the last game for the Lady Wildcats on the late afternoon of the 22nd, against Melissa, the “Home Team.” The Lady Wildcats got behind early, and improved batting and fielding late in the game was not enough to turn the tide – Melissa booked the win. Allen hosted the first 2025 varsity softball game against the Plano Wildcats on Feb. 18 in an afternoon game scheduled to get ahead of scheduled bad weather. Well, they got ahead of freezing temps, but not ahead of very cold blowing drizzle. With their home field still under construction, the Plano Wildcats softball teams are using the Plano West softball field as their Home field, and that was the location for the first 2025 district games between Plano and McKinney on Feb. 11. Despite the very cold conditions, the Wildcats JV and varsity pitchers were able to maintain control and guide both Wildcats teams to victory that evening. The Plano Lady Wildcats softball teams played their last 2024 district games in Coppell against the Coppell Lady Cowboys. The Lady Cowboys won both games, though the lead in the varsity game changed hands several times with Coppell gaining a one-run lead in the bottom of the 6th and holding off Plano in the top of the 7th. The Hebron Lady Hawks hosted the second 2024 varsity game against the Plano Lady Wildcats on April 4. The first 2024 game between the teams, at Plano, was a win for the home team.
