The Plano Lady Wildcats varsity softball team finished its participation in the three-day Wylie Softball Tournament on Sat. March 1 with a game against South Grand Prairie in the early morning and against Grand Prairie in the late afternoon. Both were Lady Wildcats victories by a wide margin. Rescheduled from the prior sub-freezing and sleeting date, the Mesquite Horn vs. Plano Senior High varsity softball game on Feb. 12 produced three entries for the Wildcats Softball record book: the first varsity win of the 2014 season; the first game with new Varsity Assistant Coach Amy Lam; and the first win for new Varsity Head Coach Molly Pipak. Tied at three-all going into the bottom of the 7th, Jade Miller set the stage for the go-ahead with a triple. The Lady Wildcats varsity softball team braved another frigid Saturday on Feb. 8 to scrimmage in advance of games that go on the record. McKinney North was the first opponent, and they faced Adrienne Edwards on the mound for Plano. Dani O’Brien pitched for the Wildcats in the second scrimmage, against Wylie. The Plano Lady Wildcats varsity team braved a cold, blustery Saturday to tune up against three non-district teams on Feb. 1. Lovejoy in the early morning, Keller at noon and Marcus immediately after was the line-up, and the Lady Wildcats appeared to limber up and pick up speed and execution with each game.
