The McKinney Lady Lions were the visitors at Plano for their first 2018 District 6-6A season meeting and the Lady Wildcats swept the evening.  Plano JV racked up a 13-0 win in three innings in timed play.  Plano varsity was down 5-0 until the bottom of the 4th when Sr. Lindsay Edwards hit one out of the park to put Plano on the board and light the spark for what would become a bonfire of batting.  The game was over after the top of the 7th — Plano 13, McKinney 5. The Plano Lady Wildcats softball team closed out the 2017 season at their banquet on May 29 at the Canyon Creek Country Club in Richardson. Awards and recognition, many laughs and a few tears were on menu for an evening that capped an exceptional season for both JV and varsity teams. May 5 and 6 were the dates for the 2017 Area Round of Texas 6A softball playoffs, with Plano Senior High going up against Waco Midway High, at Midlothian’s Heritage High School field.  It was set up to be a best-of-three series and it took all three games plus three extra innings of that final game for a winner to advance.  And with a tie-breaking run in the bottom of the 10th inning, Waco Midway advanced. With forecast thunderstorms looming, the final 2017 regular season Lady Wildcats varsity softball game, at Plano East, was rescheduled for a 6:00 p.m. start time, with the JV game to be played afterward.  While the varsity game was able to be completed, the JV game was called off as the stands and field were clearing due to lightning. The second 2017 district game between the Allen Lady Eagles and the Plano Lady Wildcats ended with an 8-1 Wildcats win on Allen’s new all-carpet field.
