A beautiful setting, good BBQ and fun program made for a delightful evening and touching farewell to the seniors. The last games of the 2025 season for the Plano Wildcats softball teams were played against Prosper Rock Hill on April 15, with Plano as the home team. The teams split wins, with Plano’s JV winning decisively, hitting the 4-run per inning rule scoring limit four times; the varsity game went to Rock Hill after both teams battled for 8 innings to the 9-6 end. Prosper hosted the second round of 2025 softball games on a cold, damp and windy Saturday (Apr. 5) that felt like a mid-February day. The home team won both games, but the outcome of the varsity game became close with Plano’s 4-run rally in the fifth that tied the game (final score, Prosper 5-4). As another consequence of renovation of Plano Senior High’s softball field, the Plano Wildcats hosted the second round of 2025 district softball games against the Plano West Wolves on April 1 at Plano East’s field, a surreal experience for fans of both schools. The second 2025 season games between Plano and Allen, this time hosted by Plano at Plano West’s field, was thrown for a loop on March 25 after the end of the 1st inning of varsity play due to lightning in the vicinity. After a long delay, the game was called for the evening and rescheduled to resume on Wednesday March 26 at 6:00 p.m. Allen won the JV game on the 25th. Because the Plano Wildcats softball team’s field is under renovation, the Wildcats hosted the first 2025 district games against Plano East at Plano West’s softball field on March 14. In a season plagued by odd and extreme weather, this evening was no exception as the teams suffered through high winds and extremely dusty conditions as West Texas dirt blew in throughout the afternoon and evening, casting a brown haze under the lights.
