The Plano Wildcats varsity 7 On 7 football team qualified for the State Championship Tournament on Saturday June 7 with wins over Richardson (40-19), Frisco Liberty (32-25), Sachse (21-13) in pool play and Denison (39-26) in the semi-final.  Coincidentally, the host of the SQT, Plano West, defeated Lake Highlands in the other semi-final game, which teed-up Plano and Plano West for the final game. The SQT championship was decided by by an injury-avoiding round of rock-paper-scissors – and the Wildcats won.  Perhaps the teams will actually play each other in the State Championship in College Station on July 11 & 12. The Plano Wildcats 2014 varsity 7 On 7 football team made its first attempt to qualify for the 2014 State Tournament at the State Qualifying Tournament hosted by Mesquite on Saturday, May 31, 2014.  Plano’s first opponent was Mesquite Poteet.  Against Poteet, Plano went to the half up 12-6, and built on that lead to win 33-14.  The second opponent for the Wildcats was Sulphur Springs, and the Wildcats appeared to be in the 7 On 7 groove by going to half up 20-7, finishing with a 45-22 win.  The final pool play game was against Mesquite Horn, who played sharply against a Wildcat teamRead More →
