The first day pools have been announced for the 2015 Texas State 7 On 7 Football Championship Tournament. On the first day of play, on July 10, Plano will play Montwood (El Paso) at 1:00 p.m., Hendrickson (Pflugerville) at 3:00 p.m., and Cy Springs at 5:00 p.m.  Plano will be the Home team (dark jersey) in all three games, and take the snap to start the 2nd half. The Plano Wildcats varsity 7 On 7 football team participated in the Wylie 7 On 7 state qualifying tournament on Friday, June 12 as scheduled even though the team qualified for the state championship tournament the week earlier.  The team experimented a bit with player roles in the line up, and emphasized injury avoidance.    In pool play the Wildcats dropped the first game to Rockwall by one point, won the second game against Hebron by 11 points, then dropped the third game to Rowlett by one point. The Plano Wildcats varsity 7 On 7 football team qualified to compete in the the 2015 Texas State 7 On 7 Football Championship Tournament at the Plano West SQT on June 6. The Wildcats were undefeated in pool play, besting McKinney 33-14, Denison 33-32, and Frisco Liberty 48-27. In the semi-final game the Wildcats poured it on in the second half to beat Plano East 40-16 and qualify for state.  Plano West was the other finalist, and in lieu of playing the teams turned to best-of-three Rock, Paper, Scissors to determine the SQT champion.  The Wolves won the bragging rights this year. The Wildcats varsity 7 On 7 football team won all three pool play games on Friday (Port Neches 39-13; Azle 34-32; and Houston Lamar 21-20) and advanced to the Championship round of play on Saturday. In their last state qualifying tournament appearance before going to the 2014 State 7 On 7 Football Championship Tournament in July, the Plano Wildcats varsity 7 On 7 team went 2-1 in Wylie’s SQT on June 13.
