Plano Senior High hosted a 2022 season 7 On 7 Football State Qualifying Tournament on May 21, and the hosting school’s team was one of three that qualified for a berth in the Texas State 7 On 7 Championship Tournament in July. The Plano Wildcats won all four games played, but it took three OT periods to win the first game against a very tough Frisco Centennial team. The JV Wildcats hosted the final JV district game for the 2019 season on November 7 at Clark Stadium. It was a cold, blustery night with howling winds from the north, ill winds for the Wildcats as the Prosper Eagles shut them out 27-0. The Plano Wildcats football team traveled to the LD Bell High School campus on June 16 for the 2018 Hurst 7 On 7 Football SQT. The Wildcats started cold against Marcus, down 20-7 at the half, but they developed a rhythm in the second half and prevailed 34-27.  In the second game, against Midlothian, the Wildcats started off cold again and couldn’t climb out of the halftime hole, ultimately losing 27-13.  The third pool game was against Frisco Centennial, and the Wildcats started out of the gate with a TD on the first throw and never looked back, winning this game 46-21. The Frisco schools hosted a 7 On 7 football state qualifying tournament on May 20, 2017.  This was the first of three SQTs in which the Plano Wildcats football team is scheduled to compete, and the Wildcats made a great appearance. In pool play, Plano defeated Lake Dallas 31-25 in overtime; defeated Reedy 38-20; and defeated Arlington Lamar 45-33.  In a hard-fought semi-final game with venue host Frisco Wakeland the Wildcats went into the half up 20-13, but an INT in the second half changed the momentum and Wakeland advanced 34-26. The Plano Wildcats participated in their last 2016 7 On 7 football state qualifying tournament on June 10.  Hosted by Wylie, the Wildcats faced Pool D opponents Mesquite, Wylie East and North Mesquite at the Wylie East field.  It was a disappointing evening for the Wildcats, as they didn’t win a berth to the state tournament. The Plano Wildcat varsity 7 On 7 football team played at the 2016 Plano West 7 On 7 State Qualifying Tournament on June 4.  Due to rain earlier in the week, pool play was scattered throughout Plano and neighboring suburbs to take advantage of turf fields.  Pool D, comprised of Plano, Richardson, Frisco Heritage and Arlington Bowie, played at Frisco Heritage’s field.  The Wildcats started pool play strong, defeating Richardson in the first game 45-18, and Frisco Heritage 32-26 in the second game.  Arlington Bowie is a perennial nemesis of Plano in 7 On 7 play, and they continue to be a worthy opponent, bestingRead More →

The Plano Wildcats varsity 7 On 7 football team qualified again for the State Championship Tournament and traveled to College Station for competition over two days.
