The Plano Wildcats 2014 varsity 7 On 7 football team made its first attempt to qualify for the 2014 State Tournament at the State Qualifying Tournament hosted by Mesquite on Saturday, May 31, 2014.  Plano’s first opponent was Mesquite Poteet.  Against Poteet, Plano went to the half up 12-6, and built on that lead to win 33-14.  The second opponent for the Wildcats was Sulphur Springs, and the Wildcats appeared to be in the 7 On 7 groove by going to half up 20-7, finishing with a 45-22 win.  The final pool play game was against Mesquite Horn, who played sharply against a Wildcat teamRead More →

The Plano Wildcats annual spring Maroon & White football scrimmage was held May 15 in John Clark Stadium.  Under the best weather conditions in years, the coaching staff put the players through the paces with the game clock turned off.  The verdict?  I’d say there were too many variables in play to reach any conclusions.  But if you take a look at the action photos you’ll see hints of great performance you may see in the fall. The Lady Wildcats won the first game of the Regional Quarter Finals the the evening before, but on Saturday May 10 they weren’t able to carry over the momentum.  The Plano West Lady Wolves captured the second game, and after only a thirty minute break between games the Lady Wolves carried the day and the series by winning the third game. For the 2014 softball Region II Quarterfinals the Plano Lady Wildcats are matched against district rivals Plano West Lady Wolves.  The first of the best-of-three game series was played Friday night 5-9-14 at Plano East’s Lady Panthers Field.  The Lady Wildcats, as the home team, took the first game 3-1. In the Area Round of the 2014 Texas UIL softball playoffs the Plano Lady Wildcats drew Mesquite Horn as the opponent in a best-of-three competition.  The first game was played at Plano’s home field on May 1, and the second at Mesquite Horn’s on May 2.  Plano swept the series and earned the weekend off. In the Bi-District round of the 2014 season softball playoffs the Plano Lady Wildcats were the visitors against the JJ Pearce Lady Mustangs.  It was a winner-take-all game played at Frisco’s Heritage High School field on April 25.  The District 10-5A Lady Wildcats were considered the underdog in a pairing against District 9-5A champions JJ Pearce.  Plano upset the Lady Mustangs with a 16-4 win that was called after 5 innings.
