The Rice Ravens hosted the 2019 Otto Bobcats 8th grade boys basketball “B” and “A” team games on Monday, Dec. 9, and it was “fill the bleachers” night for Rice. Monday is not usually the weekday for 8th grade boys basketball games, and it turns out Monday is not a lucky night for the Ravens. Plano varsity football’s last game of the 2019 season was on the road, at Prosper’s new (and impressive) stadium. It was a cold November night and the Wildcats offense didn’t warm up until the second half, but by then the Eagles had built up enough of a lead and momentum to finish with a 58-27 home field win. The JV Wildcats hosted the final JV district game for the 2019 season on November 7 at Clark Stadium. The 2019 Plano vs. McKinney Boyd football game was the last home game of the season for Plano, so it was Senior Night. Coincidentally, it was also Plano’s Homecoming game. McKinney Boyd JV hosted the 2019 game with Plano JV on Halloween, and by the 4th quarter it was so cold there was a cloud of exhaled breath between the offensive and defensive lines when they were set before the snap. Clark Stadium was the venue for the 2019 version of the oldest Plano intra-city football rivalry, and the weather couldn’t have been nicer for the event. This game, and the history of the rivalry, is the subject of a documentary I’m producing, and I was on the sideline with my film crew shooting video, and not stills.
