The harsh weather put an end to some earlier pre-season opportunities to photograph the Plano Lady Wildcats Softball JV & varsity teams, but the sun and warmer air is here! Due to pandemic scheduling the 2020 annual Plano vs. Plano West varsity football game was played later in the year than usual — on December 4. Knit hats, gloves, thick coats and blankets were the fashion in the stands, but the action was hot on the field. The Wildcats lead the first half, but the Wolves caught up by the 4th Q and with less than 2 min on the clock pulled ahead by a touchdown. This year Flower Mound hosted a rare non-playoff early afternoon varsity football game against the Plano Wildcats the day after Thanksgiving. The daylight made it easier to capture photos of the wealth of action on the field, and despite the final score favoring the Jaguars, the Wildcats provided action to the end. The Plano Vines and Clark high schools 9th grade football teams squared off the afternoon of Nov. 25, 2020 at Clark East Field for a rare game in daylight. The Vines defense earned several interceptions, but Clark’s offense was steady and strong, earning the Cougars the win. With the 2020 varsity match-up cancelled due to quarantining, the Plano v. Plano East football rivalry played out between the JV1 & JV2 teams for each school at Kimbrough Stadium on Nov. 19. It was the best of times and the worst of times for each school that night as the Wildcats and Panthers each enjoyed a lopsided win and a lopsided loss. Plano and Lewisville each combined their respective JV teams into one for their game on Nov. 12 at Plano’s Clark Stadium. The Fighting Farmers ran the starting kickoff back for a TD and never looked back as they held the Wildcats scoreless that evening. Plano’s historic Williams Field was the venue for the 2020 9th grade football game between Plano cross-town rivals Clark and Williams high schools. Each school wore the colors of the varsity team they feed into (Plano, for Clark; Plano East, for Williams). Clark scored first and never looked back on the way to a 49-22 win.
