Richardson hosted the non-district 2025 varsity game with Plano on Sept. 5, and things got off to a rocky start with a two-hour lightning delay for the kick-off. The teams went into the locker room with Richardson ahead 7-3, but just minutes into the 3rd quarter Plano scored a rushing TD to go ahead 10-7. Then, within minutes the stadium was cleared again due to lightning. At around 10:35 p.m. the game was called, not to be completed.
