With a telephoto lens on the camera and a KC Chiefs-logo mask on my face, I made a safe-distance visit to Plano Senior High on Aug. 17 to see how the Wildcats football squads (JV & varsity) were practicing outdoors in the pandemic environment. The varsity squad had just been issued new neck/face mask gaiters, and JV would be receiving theirs a day later.
In prior years by this date we would have already experienced Plano Football Media Day, but under 2020 UIL guidelines for 6A, formal practices, fall scrimmages and official games all come later in the semester. Regardless, Wildcats players and coaches are safely preparing for the season. I’ll look in on them again a few more times before the first game to give you a peek at the guys hard at work.
